Open Door Christian Schools (ODCS), founded in 1976, is a premier co-educational, college preparatory school serving Christian families in Northern Ohio. With an enrollment of over 550 students in preschool, elementary, middle, and high school, ODCS is the largest Christian school between Cleveland and Toledo, drawing students from over 100 different churches of various denominations.

Open Door Christian Schools is the only preschool-grade 12 school system within 60 miles of Elyria to receive accreditation by the Association of Christian Schools International. Our Christian School is accredited through the North Central Association which is under the authority of AdvancED, the region's premier accrediting agency. ODCS is one of only four schools in the state to be dually accredited by ACSI and AdvancED. Only local preschool-grade 12 school with ACSI accreditation.

Its mission is to equip disciples through exemplary education. This mission is carried out in a Christian environment that is focused on educating the whole student: spiritually, academically, artistically, athletically, and in service.

Application Deadline
ODCS encourages families to begin the application process as soon as possible.

Application Process
The application must be completed and supplemental application forms downloaded and completed. A non-refundable application fee must be submitted with each application. (50% of the application fee is returned if a student is not accepted.) Application fees are $130. At times some classes are at capacity, please call the admissions office at 440-326-2367 to make sure there is space available in the grade you desire before applying.

The Admissions area of our website is designed to make the application process as simple as possible using our Online Application. We encourage families to apply online, as it simplifies submission and provides parents a tool for tracking the status of their admission after their application has been submitted.

Creating an Online Application
TO BEGIN the Online Application process, select "Create an Account" from the menu above. THEN log into your account and Create A New Student Application for your child. You will then have the flexibility to log in and out of your account and access your open application. AFTER submitting the application, you will be able to track your online admissions status at the school by logging into your account. Once there, you will be able to print the completed applications, monitor when the school receives supplemental application forms, and reprint the supplemental forms (if necessary).

FACTS - Families applying for tuition assistance will need to complete an application and submit the necessary supporting documentation to FACTS. FACTS charges a per family application fee of $35. Applicants can apply online at

Application Process
The Educational Choice Scholarship (EdChoice) Program was created to provide students from underperforming public schools the opportunity to attend participating private schools. EdChoice scholarships to eligible students in Ohio who are entering grades K-12. The deadline changes each year so early application is encouraged.

Academic Program/Extracurricular Activities
ODCS is the largest Christian school from Cleveland to Toledo with an enrollment of over 530 students, representing 20 area cities and 110 local churches. ODCS offers a comprehensive Bible curriculum, daily Bible class, weekly chapel, and weekly CONNECT. Every course and activity is taught with a Biblical worldview. 100% of 2018 graduates went on to higher education with each graduate earning an average of $100,000 in scholarships. 5,000+ collective community service hours are performed yearly by students. 98% of upper school students are involved in extra-curricular activities. 2018 girls softball team ranked #1 in state for highest GPA of 3.88. Technology upgrades for upper school students include 1:1 access, Mac Lab, green screen, and sound booth for film/media projects. Lower school students have access to Chromebooks and iPads plus each classroom has an interactive whiteboard. ODCS Patriot Theatre received five nominations in the 2016-17 Dazzle Awards (Northeast Ohio’s musical theatre competition sponsored by Playhouse Square) and won Best Scenic Design. ODCS families are from diverse backgrounds (32% minority student population). 23% of ODCS families receive need-based financial assistance for tuition.
