John Marshall School of Civic & Business Leadership

3952 West 140th St, Cleveland, OH 44111

At the John Marshall School of Civic and Business Leadership, we strive to graduate scholars who are ready to be the leaders of tomorrow. Scholars not only receive a rigorous education, but also opportunities to work within one of our onsite businesses, such as our coffee shop, and are actively involved in projects throughout the community. Through these experiences, they will receive hands-on training in business planning, marketing/advertising and finance.

Scholars will be challenged academically through a curriculum that prepares them for either college or a career, taught by educators who seek to ignite each individual student's passion for learning and awaken their potential to be a business leader. Each class has a business focus that allows scholars to see real world applications for the curriculum they are learning.

Finally, we believe in restorative justice and the idea that we can leave the world better than we found it by taking responsibility for ourselves and by actively pursuing change in the world; whether it's being a friend to someone, working within the community or petitioning the government for change - we can make a difference through our actions and ability to communicate. If you want to challenge yourself to grow academically, socially and receive opportunities to work in leadership roles; then we invite you to join the John Marshall School of Civic and Business Leadership.

Academic Program/Extracurricular Activities
Students who are interested in a career in either business or civic engagement should consider John Marshall School of Civic and Business Leadership. Our programs emphasize critical thinking and analysis. We help students learn “how to think” about alternative approaches to resolving issues, not simply “how to do” problems, although there are skill components within the curriculum. Multidisciplinary approaches to problem solving are affirmed by examining issues from a variety of perspectives.

The courses are designed to help students develop an extensive understanding of business and students’ own roles in society. Students are exposed to many management processes and styles. Students’ core classes feature career components such as management, finance, marketing, human resources, and organizational structure.

Students interested in business are encouraged to pursue employment in one of John Marshall’s on-site businesses, and also to gain volunteer hours by participating in civic engagement opportunities.
